Cheryl Andres

Cheryl’s journey with yoga began in 1975 after a friend invited her to take a class. Little did she know that when it came time to welcome her first child into the world that yoga had provided the best preparation for birth! After giving birth naturally to two daughters, Cheryl felt empowered by the experience.
In 1982, Cheryl graduated as an RN and was employed by Cone and Women’s hospital (1983-2002) as a labor and delivery nurse, certified childbirth educator, pre and postnatal fitness instructor and facilitator of perinatal programs including mommy & me. Cheryl became a nationally certified yoga teacher in 2000. She pursued additional training and certification in prenatal, postnatal and children’s yoga. Throughout the years she trained with many nationally known master teachers such as Rodney Yee, Doug Swenson, Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten and Doug Keller to name a few.
2002-2010 Cheryl operated Family Yoga, a yoga studio where she had an opportunity to serve the community through teaching a varied population.
Cheryl completed Yoga Therapy Teacher Training with Jenny Otto in 2005. Ongoing studies with Jenny Otto prove to be integral to Cheryl’s teaching, informing her with the skills needed to work with all student populations. Gaining a greater understanding of human anatomy is a must for working with pregnant women to keep them safe and healthy throughout their pregnancy.

In 2007, Cheryl became a certified Relax and Renew© trainer with Judith Lasater. This training continues to bring integrity to the art of teaching people how to relax! When it comes to childbirth preparation, learning “how” to relax is a priority!
It is clear that working with pregnant women has been a passion of Cheryl’s for over thirty years. Her experience as a labor and delivery nurse, childbirth educator and specialized yoga teacher guides her students on their journey as no other teacher can.
